Any suggestions on a job for someone that has 2 hearing aids, but extremely intelligent?

My father-in-law has been looking for a job for several months. He has hearing aids in both ears and he is 53 yrs. old. He has had interviews by phone and face-to-face, but no success yet. He has even paid some company to help him with interviews and how to sell himself. I don't know if it's his age or his hearing that is the problem. He is a great accountant and has worked for food manufactorers and plants as their accountant. Does anyone have any suggestions? Is there another profession that might work better for him. I just thought I would try to help him out all I can. I would appreciate all comments.

  1. He certainly has experience. Perhaps a search on monster.com, careerbuilder.com, or hotjobs.com would help. Also, it wouldn't hurt to have a professional look over his resume and redo if necessary.
  2. I'm sorry about your grandfather. Ummmm, bus driving for little kids little kids love older people, teach, be a princaple, work on computers that's what my dad does, if he plays an indtrument he can give lessons, work in a restront, open a restront, ummm well that's all I can dish out for now, sorry i couldn't have been more help. Please wish good luch to your grandfather for me please. May God bless you and your family.GOOD LUCK
  3. accounting is the job for him. He simply needs to keep at it. It's likely neither his age or his hearing, he simply isn't interviewing well. At 53 you have 10-15 good years of employment out of someone. So it's got to be something else as I don't think anyone truly expects office staff to stay for that time period. Perhaps you can ask your boss to provide him with a practice interview so that you can get firsthand feedback about things. Find out what he did wrong and how he can improve on his techniques. Also review the resume...could be some errors in there.
