Finally Today

just had hearing aids fitted,do others get static, and do you feel your head is in tin can?

I thought I would get normal hearing again, but everythink is magnified, the rustle of paper, just brushing against some clothing, slap slap of my slippers on my floor,I`ve turned the volume down but it makes no difference,I admit I`ve only worn them for a few hours a day,if this is normal then I dont want them.

  1. Pardon...........
  2. Hi there, first thing to understand is that suddenly you have got much more sensitive hearing on certain frequencies. For years just like myself your hearing has slowly deteriorated. You have adjusted mentally to thinking that what you heard was normal. Now you are hearing what is really there and it seems strange. Your brain will adjust quite quickly and within a couple of weeks what you hear now will seem quite normal. If it still seems that certain sounds are over amplified go the clinic or supplier as they can adjust the various frequency bands . Couple of weeks and you will not even notice they are there, I would not be without mine. Good luck.
  3. oh I'm so sorry that's awful---maybe you should go back and tell the people who you got them from your problem-- good luck--at least when your on here you don't need them all the best
  4. you need to get your aid adjusted. its picking up to much out side noise. when l first got mine it just amplified noises l didnt want made louder.lhad another test with more sound levels and had my aid altered. now its fine.the phone ringing doesnt make me run to another room, and the dog barking doesnt make me cringe. take it back, get it tuned into YOUR hearing level and enjoy.
  5. Yes it is normal, BUT it WILL get BETTER! It takes time to get used to the aids. Try to wear them more - the more you wear them the faster you will get used to them. You are suddenly hearing lots of new sounds that you weren't before. People with normal hearing hear all that stuff too, they just have learned to "tune" it out. Your brain needs to sort out all of the new information and learn that those sounds aren't important and to "tune" them out.
  6. Had hearing aids fitted two months ago. To begin with I felt the same as you and could not cope with all the noises. My son turning the pages of the newspaper drove me crazy. Going to the shopping centre was awful and made me feel very disorientated. I was tempted to give up. I was told to wear the aids for as long as I could each day. I t was quite hard but I persevered but it took me a month to adjust. Now I love them and make life so much better. I can actually join in with conversations and my family love the fact that I do not have to have the TV on full blast. YOU WILL LEARN TO ADJUST AND THEN LOVE THEM. I do get a bit of feedback on t's and s's but you get used to it.
  7. I have used several of their programs, most have rocked, some didnt -- so overall, I say that they are safe to do business with and have good programs.
