Disneyland, Paris. has anyone been ?
planning to take my son to Disneyland, Paris, for his birthday in september. we've never been to a Disney resort before, and this will be the first time my 5 year old son has been abroad. have any of u been ? what was it like ? are there any tips u can give me to help the holiday go any smoother ? (and please don't say 'don't go' ! the tickets are booked, so that's not up for debate. lol) we'll be staying at the Davey Crockett holiday centre on the edge of Disneyland. (in one of the little log cabins). has anyone stayed in that particular resort ? if so, what were the good / bad things about it ? thanks in advance for your help. I know about the near closure of the park.. but that was back in the 90's, when it was called EuroDisney. it's supposed to have improved since then. thanks for all your helpful answers. i should have mentioned - we're travelling by car, and crossing into france via the channel tunnel. we will be taking the portable dvd player, otherwise i can see that we'll be getting 'are we nearly there yet ?!?' from my son, all the way from england to france ! lol. another thing i should have asked - do they have a foreign exchange facility onsite, or does everyone just use Visa ? from the sounds of food & drink prices, i think we'll be booking some meal vouchers.. i think it's going to work out cheaper than buying things individually. sorry about the thumbs down - nothing to do with me ! i personally don't think anyone deserves a thumbs down on here.

- I have been twice with my grandsons - have n ot stayed at this particular centre but assume they are all much alike - be prepared for monotonous breakfasts apart from that its all enjoyable. Have fun
- I've been to Paris but not Disneyland. I recommend you do some research. The entire time I lived in Europe/UK all I heard and read about Paris Disney was negative. I heard it really stinks! At one time it was on the verge of closing down. As a matter of fact most Europeans go to Fl Disneyland. ADDED: Sorry - I did not mean to sound so negative about Disney. I'm sure your son will have a good time.
- I've been a few years ago, we loved it. Stayed at Davey Crockett ranch, it was nice. Take a portable DVD player for your son as the tv chanels weren't up to much. The breakfasts are nice, but i agree with Barbie. Also the food places in the park are mostly pizza, hot dogs, chicken nuggets so you may want to take a few healthier snacks for your room, although fruit is availiable with the breakfast. Have a great time, your son will love it!
- I've been twice with my children but both times just for the day. We lived in France. When we went (a few years ago now) it was very tidy and well organised. It is totally manufactured and could be anywhere in the world - so I wouldn't really consider it going abroad - you won't see anything typically French! From what I remember food & drinks were expensive in the park but you don't want to be carrying a picnic around all day either - so you'll need to budget for that. Don't worry if it rains - they have planned for that and most of the queing areas have cover (unless it's a very long que and you're at the end!). Take some fold up macs - you can buy ponchos if you forget, but again more expense. Don't worry about it being too big and not getting around everywhere - it's not as big as you might imagine - there is plenty to do but no panic. You don't say how you are travelling. If you are flying that will be half the adventure for your son - make sure you have plenty to keep him occupied during the long waits though. If you're driving plan plenty of stops and things for him to do in the car. Even though I wouldn't really consider it as a trip to France most of the staff will speak French so it would be nice to teach your son to say please and thank you etc in French. It is always appreciated even if most of them do speak English at the resort.
- it is brilliant and my daughter loved ever minute of it. to get the best out of the theme park go to the parade one day, and when the parade is on the following day go on the rides...the queues are minimal compared with the usual long ones! food and drinks are expensive and especailly since we are getting nothing in exchange for the euro, so you will need loads of cash! ha ha they all speak very good english. a little tip make sure you have extremely wide elbows when it come to queing up for the pics with the characters......the europeans from over the water are not particulary polite when it comes to standing in a line! enjoy your time, im sure your little boy will have a ball!
- They have atm machines around the parks & in Disney Village. I have only been once for a couple of days so i don't have many tips to give you really. For cheap nice food in disney village go to the 'New York Style' does really nice filled baguettes. lol =D Have fun!
- I GO TO DISNEYLAND EVERY YEAR :] Okay, so yes I've been, it's fantastic but slightly cold, all of the new attractions are fantastic, to make the holiday smoother do shows and parades on one day and maybe go to the disney park one day and walt disney studios on a seperate day. Also, don't be dissapointed if a characater walks away when you approach him - its not as organised as amercia, lots of pushing and shoving: pacience is the key! I have stayed at all of the disney hotels with the exception of Davy Crockett because it's a 15 minute drive away and you can't get a coach or bus!! :] x
