Best places to visit in Orlando apart from theme parks?

Hi there I was wondering what the best places for entertainment for a family of four would be in Orlando. We've done the theme parks before but now we are looking for other attractions for our holiday. Any answers would be truly grateful as we leave next week. Thank you

  1. Check out the website you can sort out what you think your family would enjoy. I suggest dinner shows or since it is still burnin up outside a waterpark which can be fun for everyone http://www.visitflorida.com/Orlando Taking a stroll down International Dr you will find cheap fun things to do. http://www.internationaldriveorlando.com/
  2. Frankly if it wasn't for the theme parks and a friend who lives in the area, I wouldn't visit Orlando. I'd visit Miami/Ft Lauderdale or Daytona Beach
  3. It's sort of an amusement park, but there's a really neat reptile park down there. They have aligators, all types of snakes, etc.
  4. I don't know what you might be interested in but the Orlando Science Center is a fun way to spend the day for people of all ages.
  5. if you don't mind a 45-ish minute drive, kennedy space center is waaaayyyy cool (for lack of a... cooler word).
  6. Definitely the Orlando Science Center. Also the Pirate's Dinner Adventure is great for the family....its a little pricey but it's definitely worth it. Other favorites of mine are Disney Quest, Aquatica, and Cirque de Soleil. Have fun.
  7. Here a couple of won't break the bank options: Gatorland http://orlandotouristinformationbureau.com/attractions/gatorland.htm Orlando Science Center http://osc.org Museums http://orlandotouristinformationbureau.com/museums.htm Central Florida Zoological Park http://orlandotouristinformationbureau.com/attractions/orlando/zoo.htm Fantasy of Flight http://orlandotouristinformationbureau.com/attractions/fantasy_of_flight.htm
  8. As far as restaurants go, Seasons 52 in the Dr. Phillips area is amazing! You may also consider things inside of the Resort Areas that you have not done before. Did you know there's a free nightly outdoor campfire and movie at Ft. Wilderness? Every night is a different movie, ranging from Disney Classics like Lady and the Tramp and Cinderella, to more modern favorites like National Treasure and Pirates of the Caribean. Did you know you can visit the Disney Resort Hotels even if you're not a guest of that hotel? Just let security know you're there to visit, shop or dine. Animal Kingdom Lodge is a personal favorite. Jiko has the largest selection of South African Wines outside of South Africa, and offers AAA 4 diamond cuisine. The Lodge has multiple savannah's that offer night-vision viewing of the animals after dark. Any golfers in the family? Orlando's courses like Bay Hill, Falcon's Fire, The Kissimmee Oaks, Reunion, Palm and Magnolia have hosted PGA and LPGA events year after year. Still working on your long ball? You'll find PLENTY of mini-golf courses throughout orlando. My personal favorite is Fantasia Fairways next to the Swan and Dolphin resorts. It's modeled after a full size golf course with Sand Traps, Water Hazards and more! Depending on the time of year, don't forget about events like Orlando Magic basketball games, Orlando Preditors Arena League Football games and other such events. Then there are annual festivals like the Epcot Food and Wine Festival, the Winter Park Farmers Market, the Celebration Farmers Market, Celebrate The Holidays in the town of Celebration, and so much more!
  9. Winter Park is a cool area for window shopping, sidewalk cafes and there is a wonderful museum of Tiffany glass, Morse Museum. If you're looking for an inexpensive dinner, The Outta Control Dinner Show at WonderWorks on International Drive is fantastic. I always take out of town guests there fore something different. It's really good. Also, try airboating if you haven't.
