Is it better to buy Orlando theme park tickets in advance ?

A colleague of mine will be travelling to Orlando next week with his wife and two young children. Would he be better buying his theme park / attraction tickets in advance from the UK or waiting and purchasing in the US ? The exchange rate is very good at the moment ($2 = £1) and I think he'd be better buying whilst there. Also, I remember when I was in Hollywood there were all sorts of flyers around offering discounts on entry to Universal Studios - will it be the same in Orlando ? Any advice appreciated

1. It's like a golden rule to buy in advance but from experience, I've picked up some cheap tickets while over there. Disney don't do special offers as far as I'm aware but you're right, the exchange rate means you're paying half price.
2. I've been in Orlando, depending on the season, could be an advantage to do so. if you do not want to spend your time making big lines..
3. I have been to Florida twice - the first time we bought the theme park tickets with the flights and accomodation and it worked out as more expensive. The second time around we went to special tourist places (there are loads in malls/hotels/etc) and it was cheaper and more flexible to get them there - it's more competitive you see. If I go again, I will purchase them out there.
4. I know people who buy in advance & people who buy when they get there & both say they saved, maybe it depends on time of year. I know for definite that your friend shouldnt buy Wet & Wild tickets in advance because when they enter other theme parks etc they will be given vouchers for either free entry or half price admission to this water park, ive had customers complain about this when they come home..now you know what my job is...
5. I've heard people say that they got some good package deals on-line. They might want to check that out.
6. There is a discount associated with purchasing tickets in advance and with the exchange rate being how it is, it makes it a good choice. There will be lots of discounts offered but rarely are any legitimate and if something bad happens like paying for a ticket and finding out at the theme park that it was used or something (the main reason they are sold at a discount!) Disney will not assist because they only guarantee tickets sold through them and AAA.
7. I did it online, I think I saved. Disney's website stated that they give discounts if you buy online. No problem.

9. I brought my tickets before I left and I found it better. The dollar is weak against the pound at the minute so a good time to change money and buy things
