What does mummification bring to the world today?
How do we use it today? Basically if we were to thank the egyption civilization for mummification, why would we be thanking them for?

- because of mummification that why funeral homes embalm the deceased.
- Dried-up people .
- Woe to the other answers. The real thing that mummification brings to the modern world is the finely honed art of autopsy.
- the current gauze glut speaks for itself!!!
- thanks to mummification, dear friend, today we can study the ways of life back then. If they hadn't preserved anything we would have a harder time learning about the ancient Egyptians.
- NOTHING.When we die the spirit leaves the terrestrial body[FLESH] AFTER WHICH THERE IS NO LIFE IN THE PHYSICAL BODY.But the spiritual body[celestial] will still have intellect until JUDGMENT DAY. Read I COR. 15 V'S 39,40 44.....IT WILL TELL YOU OF THESE 2 BODIES.
- for me, the best thing is that some of the wrapping they used contains entire books and plays from antiquity that we otherwise would not have. (e.g. I think cyclops, the ONLY complete satyr play was found wrapped around a dead Egyptian.)
- Funny you ask............ just this month I was in Cairo and saw about 21 mummies from the early times in Egypt. All the Kings and some Queens. King Tut is on display in Luxor and will be going to London I think late this year. Well they were kind of creepy looking but just think....3000 years old! I think we are captured by the mystery of how they mummified so well and we still dont know today exactly what they did. As the other person answered so well, we are able to study and learn things about Egyptian historical times and culture. We figure out what people ate, what kind of injuries and illnesses people had......all kinds of stuff. So, while seeing them once was enough for me.........Im glad I had the chance to see The Royal Mummies of Egypt.
- The chance to argue that a light skinned mummy with fair hair is actually a black African, apparently.
