I got my period today, should I still start my regular birth control pill?
My doctor told me to start my birth control pill today, but I got my period today as well. She also told me there are sugar pills that don't contain hormones that I take when I should have my period. So should I start on the regular pills or the sugar pills? Help.

- you should start on the very first one in your pack.
- regular pills
- you shud start taking the medication wen your period is over. that way it wont screw up the cycles. but just incase call your doctor. :D
- Yes ur suppose to on the day of your period hun.
- YES! Take the first one in the pack..
- sorry im 11 years old!idk?
- you're supposed to take the different colored one, but my sister says you don't even need to take one while you're on your period because you can't get pregnant while on your period
- The sugar pills are the ones you take during your period. If your using the kind that you stop during your period then wait until your period is over to start them. The only reason they give you sugar one is so you don't forget any and get on a schedule, they actually do nothing except get you into the habit of taking one a day. If you start the regular ones and not the sugar ones it will stop your period because they have hormones in them. Don't be fooled by them though you can get pregnant at any time, on or off of your period, your just at a higher risk of getting pregnant when your ovulating which is after your period. The birth control pill is only 98% effective and takes at least 3 month to get into your system enough to be fully effective and even when it is, it only prevents pregnancy not std's so also make sure your partner uses condoms to protect both of you if you are sexually active.
