What is the summer term at a community college like?

Like how intense is it?... how many hours per class? How many classes should someone take at once? How is the financial aid? I am already in a CSU campus, I thought that doing some community college classes over the summer would be good to complete my GE requirements. At first I was looking at whether I wanted to do it at my CSU college, but then I heard that I could do it at a community college instead which would be a million times more convenient, especially since it is so close to home. I was also wandering, how does it compare from doing a summer semester at the university campus, because I looked at the classes and the schedules from previous summer terms at the university and it looks very intense, like 4-5 hour classes everyday? It would be nice to at least have some of these questions answered :)

  1. Well, for me it was intense. I took physics so.. >_> But just look at it this way. It is a 4 semester class crammed in to 2 months. It's gonna be the same amount of hours just impacted. You need a lot of extra time. On the other hand tests are not gonna be the same level of difficulty because the teacher just can't put as much in as a regular semester. I know that if you take say, sociology classes they are supposed to be less likely to make you write papers, stuff like that. I would really not take too many classes. I took two and it was difficult because I work, too. If you are taking easier classes I could recommend more classes but don't take more than one rigorous class. The hours per day depend on the class. At my school it was like 7 hours a day. The class was 4 hours and studying was 3 hours. Good luck. =]
