GLBT rights: I'm sick... and tired...?

Why do so many right-wing nuts think we're trying to "turn children gay"? They're so paranoid... they think that we're out to destroy society or something. We just ask for a little acceptance and equality, and they claim that we're communists and are destroying America with our "gay agenda and liberal propaganda". I'm tired of this. I'm so tired... Of having ignorant bastards like them put us down all the time; saying that AIDS is a punishment from God; comparing us to evil sexual predators and child molesters and Nazis, ignoring our rights as citizens... I wish it would all go away... I wish I could one day wake up and not hear stories about school principals being fired for being gay, or young boys being tortured and killed for asking another boy to be his valentine, or young men shot to death in Saudi Arabia just because they fell in love with one another...

1. I know what you mean, it can be very frustrating. You can only back someone into a corner so much before they're forced to fight back, and I think that's why so many gay people feel victimized. If they were allowed the same rights as every straight man and woman in this country (like the ability to marry), then there would be nothing to fight over. It would be equal. It's not that gays want special rights, they want the SAME rights. Some people confuse that. Plus when you consider how many straight divorces there are, how many straight people have affairs, and all that...really, what does that say about their sanctity of marriage? Not to mention the thousands of straight killers in prison right now. Somehow murder is better than being homosexual.

3. Unfortunately you are living in a time where such things do still happen. Maybe you're taking the wrong approach. look at it this way, in this day and age you can change it you couldn't have done so even 100 years ago.. You have the opportunity to be one of the tireless fighters who will be thought of with love and respect by every GLBT person for many years to come, for their fantastic efforts for the cause. And if none of this inspires you and you really just can't take it anymore, just go and hide back in that closet and close the door.

6. I understand, it gets to me too. We just have to work at convincing the majority of people that these right wing haters are not right, to challenge them every time we can. We can not let them get away with their lies. Hopefully we are making progress, and in the not too distant future, we'll be accepted by the normal rational people who just don't know us well enough to know that the fundie right is lying.
7. I hear you, Sweetie! Our day will come as long as we keep pushing on. Be not dismayed by those ignorant people. Regardless of what they say or feel, we will not go away and they can't get rid of us. Even if they kill us all, right now, a new generation will take our place and rise up. As long as we embrace each other, we will overcome. So keep the faith in yourself and in your LGBT brothers and sisters...because we have truth on our side! =)
