Can contact lenses be free if I wear hearing aids?

I'm 15 and i wear hearing aids & sometimes glasses. But it's hard because it's so uncomforble for my glasses that goes behind my ear to irritate the hearing aid, making it very bulky and horrible. Do i have to pay for contact lenses, can they be free on the NHS? Or do i have to just pay for them? Glasses really don't suit me at all. Thanks.

  1. oh sounds like a good idea ! I guess you can get an appointment and tell them you get mild headaches and irritation behind the ear, a much discomfort from using them with a bulky hearing aid.Probadly this will work for the free contacts. Remenber for them is all about health not the cosmetic looks .
  2. LOL no sorry luv I think you'll have to pay for them. I wear hearing aids so I know it can be a bit of a pain sometimes especially when they get too close to the recieveer and make that horrible high pitched noise!!! Try this website. If you pay roughtly a £10 each month you get x amount off all your health stuff. We have it in my ofice and its really quite helpful www.lhfhealthplan.co.uk xxx
  3. Unlikely, but this will give you all the info you need: http://www.moorfields.nhs.uk/Aboutus/Clinicalsupportservices/Contactlensservice/Commonquestions#cls5
  4. Nothing is free these days... What is NHS???? Call them and find out,.,,,
  5. What does the initials NHS stand for??????? You will probably have to pay for your contacts
  6. The short answer is "No". I wear hearing aids & glasses and have other durable medical equipment. It sucks because health insurances here in my state does not pay for hearing aids, glasses, etc. I am 27 years old and worn hearing aids since I was 5. I had glasses since I was 14 years old. I'm just used to them. You may want to get lighter frames with under wire around the lens instead of a full frame around the lens.
  7. Best ask your hearing doctor,,and //or your eye doctor
  8. The National Health service will not pay for contact lenses for you, sorry. Some Opticians will allow you to use your voucher issued after your test towards lenses, but it is likely that this will represent poor value for you. Most Opticians like you to use your voucher towards glasses, and so give greater incentives. If you look around (excuse the pun) you will find that contact lenses are not as expensive as you might think, especially as many of the High street Opticians offer "free" trials saving you straight away £25-£50 in fees,. Good Luck
  9. Worth a try I would think
