Finally Today

How should I prepare myself for my track meet later on today?

I have a track meet today at 3:30 pm. I am competing in the long jump and triple jump, and I want to know what I should be doing now to prepare. Should I stretch or go for a jog? What should I eat before I leave the house, and how much water do I need to drink? How should I warm up once I get to the meet and prepare for my event? What should I do to make sure that I do well in general, today at my meet?

  1. You want to stay active but not over-exert yourself. You also want to avoid taking a HOT shower, as this will relax your muscles, and it will be harder to get them up to par again. Wear sweats to keep your body and muscles warm, because being cold can cause them to tighten up- which can then lead to charlie horses and cramps. Drink lots of water to keep your muscles well hydrated, and eat a good sized portion of a high fiber/protein meal 2 hours before your meet. Something that I liked to do before a meet was turn on my favorite tunes and dance around my house on my tip-toes. It worked my calves, but didn't wear them out. It also helped to get me pumped up for the meet. Good Luck.
  2. don't eat too much before to go to the meet..but don't do your events on an empty stomach... you could stretch really good... get yourself prepared mentally also...
