My family is african, and I'm absolutely grateful that I was born here! We're not no refugees or prisoners of war! Yes our ancestors suffered,but look at the oppurtunities african americans have! We can be whoeva or wateva we want from: lawyer, doctor, teacher, scientist, million dollar rapper, model, actress etc....I'M SICK of hearing people talking about slavery! I nor ma african american family, have neva had to watch our people being slaughtered, starved off of bread, famine or epidemic of aids! American ghettos are pure royalty compared to da conditions in africa! I FEEL REPERATION HAS ALREADY BEEN GIVING TO US! HOW DO YOU FEEL? EDIT: WOOOOW...UNCLE TOM? So half ma family is african and half is african american! I'm AMERICAN just as much as anyone else! Ma native tongue is ENGLISH, and I too have lived in the ghetto! I'm far from rich but at least me and ma husband can say we are working for ours and not sitting around waiting for REPARATION because of slavery when we could go to college and make something of ourselves! Comparing suffering is a practice of the mentally deficient. You should count your blessings as an African instead of using it as a pedestal to judge black Americans. You haven't walked in their shoes and you don't know their blues.

What do you mean by born "here"? Here as in the U.S.A or here as in Africa? Girl, you should be able to see that the effects of slavery are still seen today and there are a lot of black people that are trying to make things better for the black community that go unnoticed. Like myself for example. Yes we can be whoever we want to be, but that doesn't mean that we won't experience hell trying to get there. So what if you didn't have to watch people get slaughtered. Those were YOUR people, it COULD HAVE BEEN YOU. The one thing you have in common with them is that you're black and they were hated only because of that reason.
Yes, blacks have opportunities- but there are many black people born into adverse circumstances handed down generation to generation. It is a fact, that slavery has had an impact on AA people that has yet to be completely lifted. Depending on where one lives, conditions are different. You wont have much drive to be something when you your entire family line has come from NOTHING and your are surrounded by NOTHING- poverty is all some black people know for many generations. Reparations are given to ANY other group- this includes the Japanese (yes, they recieved MONETARY reparations for being held in camps here in America) and the JEWISH- and the NATIVES- have all recieved some form of reparation. Why not the descendants of slaves whose course of life was forever changed? add: LOL- thankyou Dwayne, you said it way better than I did. A religious group who also suffered greatly was compenstated where the atrocities took place (check) The Natives should be given more though- however, they do still run the casino industry and have private governing (check) so to the td's dont hate the TRUTH, understand it. We have not been compensated for our ancestor labor. Honestly I dont believe that there can be a price put on the contributions that our ancestry have mad to and for American. And to give it to an uneducated generation would be enfeebled.

You may have made it, but the people around you..your brothers and sisters dont have much of an opportunity to make it out.
