What airport is closest to Disneyland? (please read details)?

I currently live in Vancouver, Canada, My family and I are planning a vacation to Disneyland. I was wondering what airport is the closest to disneyland. Also, it' shouldn't be so expensive, since we're a family of EIGHT! We also have to rent a car and stuff. And it someone can please take the time and help me out. Also, i've heard that Anaheim and Orange County are the closest cities to disney land, is there an airport near there? I'd really appreciate the help.

  1. The Disneyland Resort is located in Anaheim and Anaheim is located in Orange County (counties are not cities but considered local government districts). John Wayne airport (sometimes called Orange County airport) is closest. You might not find a direct flight to John Wayne (airport code SNA) so it might be a toss up between LAX (very crowded, very big, major international airport, that is hard to get into and out of), Long Beach, or Ontario. Ontario is the least crowded and easiest to get to and from other than John Wayne, I would advise against the others. You can rent a car at the airport or take one of the shuttles to your hotel and rent it there. There are plenty of deals especially during the off season. If you are looking for hotel / motel bargains, you might try in nearby Buena Park (Knotts Berry Farm and their water park and their Chicken Dinner Restaurant, Pirates dinner show, Medieval Times Dinner show, Ripleys Believe it or not). It is about 5 miles west of Disneyland. Enjoy. z
  2. Like Wally said, Orange County John Wayne Airport (SNA) is closest.
  3. The closest distance wise is John Wayne (airline code:SNA), but not all airlines service it. None of the airlines serving John Wayne from Vancouver offer direct non stop flights. You must change planes at least once. John Wayne is roughly 10-15 miles from Disneyland. Knowing this you may rather fly into LAX because the fares are MUCH cheaper, and there is a bus that goes from LAX to Disneyland. I believe the bus may stop at some of the area hotels. If you plan to rent a car this may or may not be the better option. LAX is about 45 miles from Disneyland. Enjoy your visit to Mouseland.
  4. John Wayne is the closest, But Plan on forking over 40 dollars a ticket for the privilege of landing there. Don't ask me why but unless you land or take off at LAX , there always seems to be a sur-charge.
  5. John Wayne is closest, although LAX, Los Angeles airport is probably cheaper to fly into especially from canada, then it's about an hour drive from the airport to Disneyland(:
  6. Your best bet is going to be to check with the airlines or travel agents for prices and availability. Plus, I am not sure about the rules for flying from Canada into the US. I know when I flew to Mexico, the plane stopped at LAX or SFO to go through customs. The closest airport to Disneyland is John Wayne (SNA) but if you fly on certain airlines (especially Jet Blue) it is cheaper to fly into Long Beach, which isn't too far away. I always fly out of Portland (Oregon) and I have been to LAX once (very, very crowded and busy) and it took a long time to make it down to Anaheim, at least an hour by car. I have flown twice to John Wayne, which is the closest to Anaheim. It was about a 20 minute drive to Disneyland. This past September, I flew to Long Beach. It was the cheapest flight by enough to make me fly there, the drive was about 30 minutes and the flight was shorter than to John Wayne by about 10-15 minutes. It is also the smallest of the airports and it only took maybe 15 minutes total to get off the plane, grab out bags and get into the rental car.
  7. John Wayne Airport in Costa Mesa, CA and to get from the airport to Disney Land just take the 55 N and take the exit for the 5 N freeway and exit to disney land.
  8. the Kissimmee airport . when you go to Disney stay at the Dolphin Hotel . Because Michael Jackson stayed at the very top room at the tip of the triangle hotel . he would stay there when he would go to Disney all the time .
  9. Orange County is a county, not a city. Anaheim is inside of Orange County. The commercial airport there is John Wayne Orange County Airport (SNA).
  10. If you MUST use LAX, or it saves a lot of money, do not be afraid to use it. The airport is not that hard to get in and out of from my experience, and then it is a few highway exchanges to get to Disneyland. Plus, Disneyland is in Orange County, but it is pretty far north in the county and not far to get to.
  11. SNA is indeed the closest but often more expensive to fly to. They do not always have direct flights from YVR. Most Disneyland tourists fly through LAX as the flights are cheaper and there are tons of direct flights. Though in 1993 when I lived in Vancouver and the family went on a Disneyland vacation, we bought a vacation package that flew us out of Bellingham to LAX. Now I live in Orange County and I can hear the jets take off from SNA all the time, I still end up going through LAX most of the time when I fly back to Vancouver to visit my mom at Christmas.
