How important is beauty in today's society now that we are in a recession with a war and everything?

Do you think people can still make it in today's world based on their looks? Can sleeping your way to the top keep you safe from lay offs and strikes and what not? What's your opinion? And for the men- how important is having a hot wife? Are trophy wives desirable?

1. What being a male I can not answer the first part? lol well that is pretty messed up. Well since I am not real big on getting permission, I will anyway :P Beauty will always matter! I have been told strait out by my boss "even tho you did not volunteer, we would like you to do this since the others do not have the look we want" (meaning they were ugly and the company did not want to project that image). I know my looks have gotten me a lot of things in life. This is not really fair but so what either is the hiring of relatives and a million other things. For a trophy wife.... When I get married, my wife will be a direct reflection of me. If all she has is looks then that would make me rather shallow would it not? There would be all kinds of talk behind my back & who needs that BS? Not to mention the fact that I have to live with her & spell everything out in crayon so she gets it. Looks do matter (cuz I dont want to have no ugly kids lol ok so maybe I am a little shallow). I know how the world is & how much looks could help them out. Is it fair? NOPE! Is is right? Nope! Is it how things are? Yep!!! WOW a good lookin guy with a brain too.... who woulda thunk it?
