Visit both Universal Orlando Theme Parks in the same day?

I am debating whether I should buy a two day pass for universal+islands of adventure or a one day park hopper pass. Is it feasible to visit both parks and ride all rides in the same day?

1. IMHO it takes 3 days to do everything in both parks. You can spend an entire day just watching the shows and never getting on a single ride.
