Finally Today

If I baked cookies today, would they be gross and unappetizing in four days?

I'm going to a protest on Saturday, and I wanted to make sugar cookies today and ice them. Would they be gross and bad-tasting by Saturday morning? How should I keep them moist? Do I refrigerate? I don't understand how to freeze them. Do I defrost them before I go?

  1. just keep them in a ziplock baggie, that'll keep them plenty moist for at least a week
  2. my advice: maybe 2 days ahead if u can no they won't get bad that soon but i wouldn't chance it. if u want to then yeah refridgerate it.
  3. Freeze them, I did it when I made too many cookies once. They were just as good.
  4. bake them tonight and freeze them that way they stay moist for Saturday! it's as simple as that and they'll still taste good.
  5. I wouldn't ice them until saturday morning or friday night at the earliest.... The best way to keep them moist would be to put them in a zip lock back with a slice of white bread. The bread absorbs any moisture in the container that the cookies otherwise would, allowing them to stay just as soft and fresh as the day you baked them.... :)
  6. I would make them on Thursday or Friday. After four days they will not be as good and fresh. They will still be edible, but you will be able to tell that they were older than freshly baked. If you must, make the cookies today and ice them on Friday or Thursday. The icing will get gross.
  7. Great choice for cookies! They will not be "gross" in four days, just some simple and easy prep steps and storing ideas to pass on here. Make your sugar cookies and let them set for 2-4 hours, room temperature. Then, you can frost/ice them. Let them set again for another 2 hours, then put them into an airtight container, laying them flatly with pieces of parchment or deli paper inbetween the layers. They will be fine come Sunday for your Protest! They will be moist setting at room temperature, but if you're in a humid climate, I would suggest refrigerating them, same storage method but bring them out on Sunday a little earlier before you leave so they can warm up a bit and get softer. I hope this helps you out!
  8. they should be fine in 4 days, keep them in a air tight tupperware, i would refrigerate them, or freeze them, you wouln't have to defrost them, it would take no time to thaw sugar cookies out.
